มือถือที่มีอุปกรณ์ เสริมไว้ต่อหัวท้าย 3 ชนิด คือ อย่างแรกต่อเพื่อเป็น Flute เครื่องดนตรีสำหรับเป่า อย่างที่สองคือ มีตัวตรวจเลือด นำเลือดวางแล้วมันจะสแกนส่งข้อมูล Online แล้วรอรับผลตรวจจากมือถือได้เลย อย่างที่สามคือ มีแผ่นฟิล์มที่สามารถกางออกได้ เป็นหน้าจอ e-ink สีไว้อ่านหนังสือจอใหญ่ๆ ได้

NTT DOCOMO / Extensible Mobile Phones with Replaceable Hardware
NTT DoCoMo’s Institute for Advanced Technology is researching new concepts for mobile phones, with the aim of achieving mobile phones that have customizable hardware. This prototype could meet a diverse range of needs, by enabling users to combine hardware capabilities in line with their preferences. Compared with hardware upgrades, conventional software upgrades have some advantages: They have few limitations, and are easy to maintain and manage. On the other hand, software upgrades can’t be used if analog operations are required, like playing a musical instrument, or for viewing things on a big screen. Moreover, hardware upgrades have the advantage of being intuitive and simple for users to understand, and anyone can operate them easily. NTT DoCoMo’s Institute for Advanced Technology is developing this Handset with Functional Hardware Add-Ons with the aim of producing a practical version in 2015.
